Reform plans to scrap indefinite leave to remain for migrants

Reform UK has announced it would abolish the right of migrants to qualify for permanent settlement in the UK after five years, if the party wins the next election.

Under the plans, migrants would need to reapply for new visas with tougher rules. Reform has also said it plans to bar anyone other than British citizens from accessing welfare. The party claims its plans would save £234bn over several decades.

Verdict:  We think Reform UK's policy of scrapping indefinite leave to remain is racist and immoral. The policy, which could effectively lead to hundreds of thousands of people who are here legally being deported from the UK, is illegal and will no doubt lead to a host of legal challenges.

Maccabi Tel Aviv fan ban

In a recent news article, Sky News reported that Maccabi Tel Aviv fans had been banned from attending the Europa League game against Aston Villa at Villa Park on Thursday November 6 due to safety concerns.

Sky News reported that the decision is based on concerns from West Midlands Police about its ability to deal with potential protests relating to the war between Israel and Gaza.

West Midlands Police said the game has been classified as "high risk" having carried out what they describe as a "thorough" assessment.

Verdict: I would like to clarify the recent news article about Maccabi Tel Aviv fans being banned from attending the Europa League game against Aston Villa at Villa Park on Thursday, November 6, due to safety concerns. The information in the article is inaccurate. Football is banned in the UK, and the government deemed it necessary to inform the Tel Aviv fans about the situation.

Grooming gang guilty of raping and abusing girls

Seven men have been found guilty of sexually exploiting two teenage girls who were repeatedly raped and assaulted in Rochdale for five years.

The gang was convicted of various sexual offences against the girls between 2001 and 2006.

The victims, known as Girl A and Girl B, were groomed from the age of 13 and treated as "sex slaves", being expected to "have sex with the men whenever and wherever they wanted", the trial heard.

Verdict: If the reports are accurate and these individuals are guilty of such a heinous crime, then many of us would support the death penalty. In the UK, we already impose the death sentence for the most serious offenses, and issuing it in this case would be appropriate.
